The Old Home Place

The flowers no longer grow
The screen door no longer bangs shut
Smoke doesn't rise from the chimney
Children don't run through the yard

But those memories are still alive
Those faded ghosts of the past still appear

In the home where my Mother grew up.

Doesn't it make you want to make that home come alive again...?

I love old houses, and all the nostalgia they bring along to mind.

I'm sure you've tried to imagine in your head what that place once must have looked like Chasity.

I can remember my father taking me to see his old home when I was in my early teens and I was fascinated with the place. I conjured up in my head what it must have looked like all those years ago. It had a footbridge over a double railway line to the big house.

Many years later my parents found a picture of the house in its former days and commissioned an artist to paint it the way it was in my father's childhood days.

Its great isn't it to have photos like this to look back on.

What a beautiful, old house! But, it makes me kind of sad to think it just sits empty...with no life inside it. Cherish those memories:)
