A Fennel Feast

Flowers really do intoxicate me.
~Vita Sackville-West

This fennel attracts the most amazing caterpillars.
Huge green caterpillars with large searching horns.
Incredible caterpillars.

They will become the Black Swallowtail.
Incredible butterflies.

I am happy to share the fennel with them.
Honestly~
I only have the fennel for them.

With an occasional nibble for my girls.

They think it's great fun to eat the garden.

Beautiful! Love the editing. I'm curious, what did you do? It makes the flower look so fragile.

I have kiddos that like to eat right from the garden too!

We have this here too but I think it is a different color. I could be wrong. However this is very very pretty. I love the quote too.

So true Chas, the best place to eat is in the garden, dirt and all! :-)

Awesome photo once again and wishing you a wonderful week.

I love the photo and the texture! My neighbors and I are hoping to have some Black Swallowtails in a few weeks. They are feasting on parsley and a few are in the chrysalis stage.

Have a great week!

Not sure I have ever ate fennel Chas but it really does look pretty. I love eating tomatoes right off the vine. I am at my nephews baby sitting all week but will try and check in as much as I can. I am hoping Shuana has a wonderful trip and am praying every day for her, have a great week my young friend....:-) Hugs

really like the "old" feel to this photo.. lovely editing..
I think all children like to eat what ever they can get their hands on.. or that "they" think is eating worthy..and teaching them to eat from the garden.. is a very good thing.. plus it helps them when its time for them to learn ..to help pull the weeds..
hope today is a good one for you..
I read that you home school right ?.. hope its coming along good for you.. I used to homeschool my youngest.. but he is out of school now.. at times I miss it.. other times I am glad its over with..
rather a catch twenty two type thing..
have a beautiful day..
soft hugs ~Hope

I love the shape of the fennel plant - and I like to use the seeds in some dishes. This is another beautiful layered and nuanced photo. I think you need to give us some lessons in the techniques you use. I can't begin to decipher your processing but you are truly skilled at it.
