Hidden Blessings

Better to lose count while counting your blessings than
to lose your blessings to counting your troubles.
~Maltie Babcock

I have been sick with a cough and/or cold since September.

I kept putting off a doctor's visit because I thought it would go away.
After 2 months....I was finished.

I am now on a list of medicines
and hopefully will be turning the corner.

On the drive to the doctor's office yesterday~
this little building was waiting for me on a corner.

I jumped out of the van onto the gravel road and started clicking.

This is in the middle of NOWHERE.

and I looked up and there was a state trooper watching me.

I waved a friendly wave....

he waved back.

and that was that.

But he probably did think I was a bit insane.
Probably thought I should see a doctor.

Probably wondered....

Who would take a picture of this raggedy old thing?

I would.

I did.

I love it.

and I wouldn't have it if I weren't on my way to the doctor.

There is a silver lining after all.

I had to chuckle (good, after reading something else that made me cry) anyway. I think that's cute that the trooper saw you and you waved. I always get that feeling of "not wanting to be seen as the crazy photo taker" and so I literally have this "hesitation" looking all around... etc. What is up with that? I suppose it's because of the odd angle or the lying on the ground or the whatever that makes me feel so at odds.

Can you relate to that??

hi bevy...
i've missed seeing you!

hope you are doing well.

to answer your question~

i think that i do a fair amount of role playing when i have the camera in hand...

you know~

hey watch out~ there's a lady with a camera...she must be doing something important.

ha.

and if i had a bigger more important looking lens i could probably take it even farther.
:)

probably no one buys it ...
and i will likely get myself into trouble with my little game some day.

until then~ i'll just wave my friendly wave.

hope you have a wonderful evening.

hugs~

Fabulous shot! I'm so glad you got out and took a photo.
And funny you mention a silver lining - I was thinking the same thing when I ran out of milk and couldn't eat cereal for breakfast. Instead, I had a piece of sweet potato pie. What a great way to start the day.
Sorry for blabbing. (;

I hope you feel better soon - what a wonderful treasure. I get weird looks when I pull over on the side of the road too.

It's a talented photographer who sees a 'picture' where everyone else sees an 'eyesore'. Absolutely wonderful editing makes this a great shot! P.S. Hope that medicine is doing it's thing!!!

Hi Chas - I hope the medicines work for you and you start to feel a little more refreshed soon. I would not have gone past a barn like that either. Your processing is just perfect.

I think this is a great photos! Those who think we are a bit insane for taking photos of odd bits of the world are missing out on so much. The most beauty is often in the simplest of subjects.

It's really hard to practice, but you need to take care of yourself, too:) Love the picture...it's a beautiful old building. But, I'm not sure how I'd react if I noticed a state trooper watching me; loved that you just waved:)!!

Great story Chas - amazing how the photo ops show up. Great way to disarm the trooper too ("a kind word turneth away wrath" - or a variation thereof !).

And - nice shot too ! Hope you're on the mend.

What a beautiful old building and wonderful photo of it, Chas! He probably thought you were a free lance photographer from New York City or something...:) See you in the morning.
Love you.

Hi Chas, thinking of you often and praying for you all. I hope your meds help you feel better soon. And...you seriously need to print this picture and have it framed. It's lovely! Love, Joy
